Leg  Attachment Chart
She's got legs!  Quite curvaceous ones at that.  So you will want to show them off.  Take into consideration your own leg.  It does not dangle from under the crotch area.  It does not rest at the same angle on the out side of the leg as it does on the inside of the leg.  The outside of the leg rides in the hip bone and is covered with flesh and muscle.  Attach it that way.  Bring the outer leg up.  Ever heard the saying, "she has legs up to her arm pit?"  That may be carrying it a bit too far, but she should have legs that extend the full hip area, and almost to her waist in some cases, depending on the look you are going for.
Hope the chart helps.
This is how the basic torso looks.  The dotted line indicates the pelvic area and stomach area
The V indicates the pelvic line.  The curved line indictes the leg placement
______ Stitch that leg up high!  The inner side will be folded in.
__________
__________
__________
Attaching th elg in this manner, always folding the inner side in, and leaving the top area unstuffed until after attachment, ( as directed in my pattern booklets ) will give you a sleek look.  This will also allow your doll to wear high cut costumes.

To better show you how the legs and arms should be attached, Susan Hackbarth has graciously allowed me to show you the common errors of attachement on her doll
_______________________
This area can be corrected by using less stuffing from the root of the neck to the chest area, it could be the angle of the photo, but take note of your own chest.
___________Aren't those hands Great!!!!
Here is Susan's Queen of the Jungle !
Overall a really great doll.

The arms on Susan's doll are correctly attached, however,
she should have added more stuffing to create a natural looking shoulder from a small opening left at the underside of the arm.
_______________
The legs should ride higher on the hip.  This will eliminate
the unnatural look of the leg line.  Again, more stuffing through an opening in the underside of the leg where more stuffing is added after attachment will smooth out the leg line and give a natural hip area.  Notice the doll stands alone!
